Alistair Simpson has over two decades of experience in intellectual property law. His practice involves: patent procurement, exploitation and defence activities (including related opinion work and litigation); negotiating and drafting patent and technology licenses and other similar types of agreements; and assisting companies with intellectual property strategies and capitalization.
Mr. Simpson has considerable expertise working with clients in industries relating to both high technology and mechanical subject matter, such as packaging and medical devices. Such clients have ranged from small and medium-sized enterprises to large, multinational corporations. Mr. Simpson was seconded to the in-house intellectual property group of a major Canadian high technology firm for over a year to assist with patent licensing and strategy. He is fully qualified to advise clients both in respect of Canadian and United States patent law, which makes his expertise a particularly strong asset to companies operating in both jurisdictions. Additionally, while not currently advising clients in respect of English law, Mr. Simpson is also qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.
